Mezcal Tasting

Originally made by indigenous people in what is now the state of Oaxaca, using traditional methods passed down from generation to generation.

Produced in Mexico since the 16th century.

Mezcal is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the agave plant, native to Mexico. The word mezcal comes from the Nahuatl word mexcalli [meʃˈkalːi], which means "oven-cooked agave".

Mezcal was first introduced to the Spanish colonists in the early 1600s, who then began producing their own version of the drink. Today, mezcal is made all over Mexico, with each region producing its own unique variety.

Our resident expert and Mezcalier, Luis, will walk you through rare mezcal as we explore the finer differences of mezcal. We will help you use all your senses to learn the characteristics of each.

We'll start with a lovely mezcal cocktail to ease into the experience as we explore the history of this Mexican spirit. The tasting will consist of 5 small batch artisanal mezcals made with different agaves from espadin, Tobala, Tepextate and more!

In 2 short hours, this relatively in-depth overview will cover the basics of mezcal's roots, help you better understand the variety of spirits in the agave family, and why Mezcal is such an important part of Mexican culture and history.
